Setting Up the Privacy Filter Plugin

Control which in-game messages get forwarded to Discord using a prefix.

HomeGuidesPrivacy Filter Plugin

Introduction

This plugin came about because Voltz at Fails Per Second asked for it. By default, Tunnelcast forwards all in-game chat to Discord. The Privacy Filter changes that: only messages that start with a specific prefix get sent through. Everything else stays in-game.

This is useful when your players want to chat privately without every message showing up in a Discord channel. They just type normally for in-game chat, and add the prefix when they want Discord to see it.

1

Enable the Plugin

Open your Tunnelcast.ini file and add this line to the [Tunnelcast.TunnelcastSettings] section:

Plugins=class'Tunnelcast.Plugin_PrivacyFilter'
2

Set the Prefix

Add this section to your Tunnelcast.ini file:

[Tunnelcast.Plugin_PrivacyFilter]
DiscordPrefix=!d

The DiscordPrefix setting controls which messages get forwarded. Only messages that start with this prefix will be sent to Discord. Everything else stays in-game. For example, if your prefix is !d, a player would type !d Hello everyone to send that message to Discord.

3

Restart Your Server

Restart your game server to apply the changes. Once it's back up, only messages with the prefix will be forwarded to Discord.

Changes to Tunnelcast.ini won't take effect until you do a full server restart. Just switching maps isn't enough.
